We provide free furniture and household essentials, to individuals rebuilding
their lives after domestic violence, homelessness or hardships. Through
donations and a community skill exchange, we’re helping people create safe,
dignified homes — and a fresh start.

TRANSFORMING LIVES, ONE HOME AT A TIME
SECOND CHANCES CIC was born from lived experience — a journey through domestic violence, life in refuge, and the overwhelming challenge of starting over with nothing. When our founder moved into a forever home with no furniture and nowhere to turn, she built a new life from scratch. What began as a personal mission to help others in similar situations has now grown into a movement of kindness, dignity, and real, practical support.
We collect furniture and household donations from the public and pass them directly to individuals who need them most — those transitioning from domestic violence refuges, homelessness, or other significant hardships. With nearly 1 in 10 adults in the UK living in furniture poverty, we’re here to make sure no one has to choose between a bed or a meal, or feel alone in their struggle.
But this is more than just giving things away. Through our skill shop, people can earn credits by offering their time or talents — like cutting a neighbour’s lawn, cooking a meal, or sharing a craft. These credits can be exchanged for essential items, creating a community rooted in mutual support and respect.
We're also working toward creating a larger space where people can come for more than just furniture — a place for art therapy, connection, and healing. A safe space to simply be.
At SECOND CHANCES CIC, we’re not just furnishing houses —
we’re transforming lives, one home at a time.
